Councilman Staleys 6 month report 2008 Part 1 Town Historian Nancy Kelly was appointed to the Town Historian position for 2008. Nancy continues to educate residents new and old on our rich Rhinebeck history. She also helped research Levi Morton residence as the current site of the Astor Home at the time he was sworn in as Vice President of the United States. Nancy also assisted in the purchase of a Cherry Wood pedestal to display the marble Levi bust at the Morton Library. Waterfront Committee The committee had a maintenance day at the waterfront and repaired and painted the Bulkhead One dock has been put in. A handicap accessible Porto Potty was delivered. Morris Associates drew plans for a picnic shelter which were approved by the CAC and Town Board and is now going out to bid. A letter was prepared for use of the $28,000 grant from Senator Saland for the Picnic Shelter$12,500 ,Bike Rack$800 ,Bulkhead Fenders $14,000, and 2 Grills $690. Concert Scheduled for July 13,2008 the band is U Guys. A sub committee was form to plan the Waterfront day celebration which is scheduled for Saturday August 16,2008. Cemetery Accepted Ford F250 that was purchased from the Highway dept. Purchased Dump bed w/ tarp for F250 cost $2475.00. Sold 1983 GMC 1 ton dump Truck for $2501.00. Formed a Sub Committee to come up with Plan for Grasmere Section Adopted 1 year Moratorium on Mausoleums. Part of the Stone wall was hit by Car at approx 2am. Progressive Insurance paid $10,000 which is the max coverage of insured. Hired Zury Oates & Ryan Dowden part time for the summer. There has been 18 Burials in 2008. There has been 12 full plots sold and 1 cremation in 2008 Zoning Board of Appeals The ZBA has had 13 applications presented to it in 2008 and continues to operate in a professional efficient manner led by chair Dave Baldauf Zoning Enforcement Officer Jan 2008 -1 Denial, 2 Orders of Remedy,1 Plan Review,1 Complaint,6 Site visits, 17 Office visits. April 2008-3 Denials, 2 Order of Remedy, No Plan Reviews, 1 Complaints,7 Site Visit,, 31 Office Visits. May 2008-2 Denials,2 Order of Remedy, No Plan Reviews, , 3 Complaints,32 Site Visits, 32 Office Visits Jack Maaz continued at this position this year and continues to operate with the utmost professionalism. Conservation Advisory Council The CAC continues to advise the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and the Town Board of the implications of development of properties especially within the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program boundaries which basically run 500 east of Route 9 to the Hudson River shore line. Also the Town is collaborating with the Village of Rhinebeck on a 50% matching tree grant through the DEC. The grant is spread over 2 years and the town is chipping in $5,000 each year and receiving $5,000 each year bringing the total to $10,000 invested and $10,000 received.
